In September 2001, the ESA was changed dramatically. Since that time many more changes have been introduced including changes to the
hours of work and the introduction of Ontario’s Family Medical Leave. The government of Ontario has established an approvals system
requiring all employers to obtain excess hours of work approvals before having employees work more than 48 hours in a week. Without these
approvals employers may be subject to nes and/or prosecution. The government has introduced Family Medical Leave, which allows workers
to take job protected leave of 8 weeks or more to assist with the care of dying loved ones. Also with the passage of Bill 211 Ontario employers
will no longer be able to have policies in place requiring employees to retire at age 65.
This seminar is a must attend for all business owners, managers and human resource professionals who manage workers and wish to be current
regarding the requirements of the ESA. Don’t wait for the Ministry of Labour to come knocking on your door. Find out what you need to do in
order to be in compliance by attending this seminar. Some of the topics to be covered are:
• Hours of Work requirements: daily, weekly maximums and averaging overtime hours
• Overtime Pay, Vacation Time & Pay, Public Holiday Rules, Emergency Leave & Family Medical Leave
• Drafting of Written Agreements – Ministry and Legal Requirements
• Notice of Termination, Severance Pay
• And much, much more
